Located almost excatly half-way between Kilkenny City and Waterford City. Scoil Aireagail is just 23km from Kilkenny. Fast access via the M9 Kilkenny to Waterford Motorway (Exit 10)

 

Class Size:

In today's classrooms, many schools are experiencing classroom size well beyond 25 students.  Studies show that, over time, when students remain in smaller classes, they continue to make gains on their peers in larger classrooms. Classes with 13-17 students faired the best, while the majority of teachers state that larger classes (24+) have a negative impact on teaching and learning and on the disciplinary climate in the classroom. At least 4 in 5 teachers feel that class size inhibits range of teaching strategies used and opportunities for students to engage in group and other collaborative work.

We are in the enviable position of having a comfortable register number allowing a  satisfactory Student to Teacher ratio. Nauturally class size depends on the nature of the subject: subjects which require specialist equipment have smaller classes.
