Our Ethos and Values

As a proud Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) school, we are guided by the vision, mission, and core values of ETBI. Our ethos shapes the everyday life of our school, fostering a caring, inclusive, and respectful community where every student is supported to reach their full potential.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide high-quality, inclusive education opportunities and support services that empower young people and adults to grow in confidence, develop their talents, and contribute in a positive way to society.

Core Values

ETB schools are built on the core values of Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community, and Respect. These values are central to who we are and how we work:

  • Excellence in Education – We strive to provide the highest standard of teaching and learning, ensuring that every student is challenged and supported to succeed.

  • Care – We promote a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where wellbeing is prioritised and every individual feels valued.

  • Equality – We celebrate diversity, embrace inclusivity, and work to ensure fairness and opportunity for all members of our school community.

  • Community – We build strong, positive relationships within our school and with the wider local community, recognising the importance of partnership and belonging.

  • Respect – We treat every individual with dignity, valuing their unique strengths and perspectives, and fostering an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding.

Our Characteristic Spirit

As a state, co-educational, multi-denominational school, we welcome and celebrate the full diversity of our community. We are committed to:

  • State – Providing education as a public service, accessible and accountable to all.
  • Co-educational – Supporting and respecting the diversity of gender identities and expressions, and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
  • Multi-denominational – Honouring the wide range of religious and non-religious beliefs within our community, and fostering respectful dialogue and understanding.

Together, these values and commitments shape a school culture where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to become confident, responsible, and compassionate members of society.
